Roadless rule should stay in place
The Trump administration is trying to rescind the roadless rule in our national forests.
I like to hike in our national forests and wilderness areas.
Undisturbed wilderness is needed for our wildlife, water, air and sanity. In America, our most amazing assets are our undisturbed natural areas.
We should preserve the roadless rule because it protects roughly 58 million acres of undeveloped national forest lands from commercial logging and new road construction, safeguarding clean water, wildlife habitats and natural ecosystems. The rule protects tens of thousands of miles of rivers and streams, acting as a natural filter that removes contaminants before they reach public utilities.
Pristine backcountry areas support a multibilliondollar outdoor recreation economy, including hiking, hunting, fishing and climbing.
Preserving these areas maintains the last remaining large blocks of natural, wild forests for future generations.
I urge the national administration to preserve our roadless areas.

Bus changes during State Fair frustrating
The detouring of city buses for the New Mexico State Fair was extremely disruptive.
First, ABQ RIDE made no effort to warn riders ahead of time of the stops that would be closed along Central Avenue or list what substitute stops we would have to use. Second, the intersection of Lomas and Louisiana provided no transfer between the two ART routes.
I had to transfer from the 777 line eastbound (for Tramway) to the 766 line at Louisiana and Lomas, but instead I had to go all the way to Central and Louisiana where the 766 does not stop. I had to backtrack and, as a result, was over an hour late to my destination.
This is poor management and extremely unfair to the commuters who need the bus service.
My suggestion is that we have future parades at some major park instead of on Central so as not to deprive commuters of their bus service. It’s only fair.

Thanks for 9/11 tribute_
On Sept. 11 when I picked up the paper from my driveway, I was dreading to see the front cover pages. To my intense relief there were no horrible photos of disaster from 9/11.
Instead, only American flags covering the front page. I stared at it for quite some time, only to think that was the loveliest tribute to a horrorfilled event. It had no words, and did not need any.
Thank you for one of the most beautiful tributes I have seen for 9/11.
